🙋Job News: Coders in Silicon Valley are getting grumpy…

Silicon Valley, once the tech utopia (still is), is losing its allure among tech workers. As experienced with our recruiting firm, we just moved a tech executive from the SF bay area to SLC, Utah.

It’s getting easier to recruit people out of Silicon Valley, as long as they are not asking for 10X salaries in remote parts of the USA.

Sky-high living costs in the Bay area force techies into cramped spaces, sapping their quality of life. The "hustle" culture leads to burnout and mental health issues, pushing workers to seek balance. Reference all the focus on mental health…

Then there is the diversity void, lack of inclusion and ethical dilemmas. Reference the latest “Carta Chaos”, where more women are coming forward with claims of mistreatment.

Lastly, traffic is bad and Big Tech suffocates a lot of the tech workers into doing work they are not interested in doing and staff gets bloated with more managers and less doers.

It seems Big Tech and Silicon Valley needs to get back to the garage days and quit breaking things.

If you are recruiting for someone - look in the Silicon Valley area. People are looking for more in their tech careers…

Cement has a crucial role in decarbonization and it’s equal to Electric Vehicles (EVs).

While electric vehicles (EVs) have rightfully taken the climate change center stage, let's not forget the unsung hero in our quest for decarbonization: cement. Here's why it's equally important:

1. Huge Carbon Footprint: The $1 trillion cement market is responsible for a staggering 8% of global CO2 emissions, making it a major climate culprit.
2. Foundation of Our World: Cement is the building block of our infrastructure, from skyscrapers to highways, meaning its environmental impact is profound.
3. Innovation at Work: The industry is evolving with sustainable practices and carbon-neutral approaches, such as carbon capture and utilization (CCU) technologies.
4. Infrastructure Nexus: To support the EV revolution, we need robust charging infrastructure, largely built with cement. Cleaner cement means a greener foundation for electric mobility.

In essence, while EVs zoom us toward a greener future, cleaning up the cement industry is just as vital. Cement, often overlooked, plays a foundational role in our carbon reduction efforts, and it's high time we give it the attention it deserves.
